GCH International is the operating entity formed through the merger of three distinct businesses, each which remains the focus of GCH's competencies today.

Griffin & Company

Griffin & Company, Inc. began operations in 1941 as a sheet metal job shop specializing in heating, ventilating, dust control and air conditioning. Later, the company began designing and fabricating more specialized processing equipment, leading to the attainment of several patents. Throughout the years, an emphasis has been placed on total systems integration to provide all necessary equipment and systems needed to fully automate a facility.

 

Cardwell Machine Company

Founded in 1829, Cardwell Machine Company of Richmond, Virginia, was best known for designing and building tobacco and food processing machinery. Many of the designs and systems, including vibratory conveyors, surge bins and threshers, are still in operation today.  GCH International continues to design, manufacture and install variations of  Cardwell's most popular designs.

In 2015 the tobacco and environmental business unit was spun off, however GCH continues to fabricate and install the tobacco systems for the newly created entity, Griffin-Cardwell, LTD. With the exception of tobacco processing equipment, GCH has retained the rights to all of Cardwell's designs.

 

Harpring Sheet Metal

Harpring, Inc was founded in 1945 as a family-owned industrial sheet metal job shop. The company made a name for itself as a custom sheet metal fabricator and industrial contractor for which no job was too big or too small.

While industrial sheet metal applications for food grade manufacturing and institutional facilitates was a core focus, Harpring has also worked on some of the most recognizable regional and national landmarks, including the twin spires at Churchill Downs, the Aria Casino is Las Vegas, the Muhammad Ali Center, and many of University of Louisville's facilities.
